This week saw another great week of Snapper catches on board the MV Reggie for Matthew Hunt Fishing Services. Catch numbers have varied from bag limits to smaller catches of Snapper throughout the week. When fishing with Matthew Hunt Fishing Services, we dont claim that we 'bag out' on all trips, as fishing is often unpredictable all anglers on the MV Reggie can be assured that when fishing is tough, all options are exhausted to get you on to the fish! The last couple of weeks have seen a lot of our Clients taking advantage of Matthew Hunt Fishing Services' personalized fishing service with smaller groups on board to gain the expertise offered by Matthew and Eren.
Our last report ended on huge numbers of Snapper being caught, however with the barometer dropping, our trip with Compleat Angler Melbourne saw a drop in numbers of Snapper being boated than the previous two trips for that day. Never the less all on board were happy and went away with a feed of Port Phillip Bay Snapper. If you would like to join the Compleat Angler crew on one of their future trips, call Chris on 9620 3320 to secure your spot.

During the week fishing on Port Phillip Bay was spasmotic, we saw great catches one day and then the next day they were a little elusive. Matthew utelises all his experience, knowledge and equipment to locate the Snapper. Fishing in the last 48hrs has been exceptional, and good numbers have been located in the northern part of Port Phillip Bay.

Filippo, Michele & Federico travelled all the way from Italy to enjoy some quality Snapper fishing. Filippo organised the trip as a suprise for Federico's birthday, while visiting Melbourne. The boys are very keen fishermen and regularily fish in their local bay in Italy. The fish that they catch are very similar to Port Phillip Bay's Snapper, they are called “pagari” but are a lot smaller than our infamous Port Phillip Bay Snapper.
Local Mark joined the boys on their first Port Phillip Bay Snapper trip.

We are trying a few different things this Season, one of those is the bait and berley we are using. We, like many others, have discovered a quality, locally developed berley called Zealcol Berley. Zealcol products are an Australian based company, which specialize in the production of saltwater and freshwater scented berley.
With years of experience in the fishing industry Zealcol products have formulated a range of scented berley solutions that cater for both boat and land based anglers. Zealcol Berley products can be purchased at the following retail outlets.
In combination we also use quality bait supplied by Sandy's Bait & Berley. We have also experimented mixing Sandy's precut berley pilchards in with Zealcol's Snapper Snacks, and have been getting great results.
In the coming weeks we hope to see some more consistent fishing friendly weather as we head towards Summer.
